The full error reads “Ntkrnlmp.exe Could Not Be Loaded. The Error Code Is 7”. You may receive this during setup or when installing Microsoft Windows. This can appear during the text-mode portion of the Windows setup. Setup may freeze and may display one of the following messages:

  • The file I386\Ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. The error code is 7.
  • The file I386\L_intl.nlf could not be loaded. The error code is 7.

As a result, you won’t be able to install Windows. The problem is triggered when there are incorrect settings in the BIOS or you have a faulty memory module or memory card installed on your computer. To fix the problem, first, restore the BIOS default values. Restart your computer then press DEL, DELETE, F2, or whichever key is used to go to the BIOS.

In the BIOS, press the function key you see at the bottom of the screen to restore the BIOS default values. Save the new settings then exit. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, you need to check the memory modules installed on your computer. Turn off your computer then unplug it from the power. Open the CPU case then remove all the memory modules currently installed.

If you have more than one memory modules, insert only one then start the computer and try installing again. If you have only one memory module, try transferring the memory card to another available slot then try again.
