This error occurs when due to a corrupt update of dot NET Framework or the Windows software didn’t install correctly.

Try to install the updates again by:

  1. In your PC, open Microsoft Update.
  2. Open the view update history option and select the update with error code.
  3. Copy the article number of Knowledge Base that you need to install.
  4. In the Windows Downloads -> Search Download Center, enter ‘KB’ after that the number (example- KB654321). Now search for it.
  5. Find your Kb article number in the searched list and select it to Download.
  6. Then save the file somewhere, after this install it.

If the error occurs in dot NET Framework files then follow these steps:

  1. As above open the view update history and check the name of update that failed.
  2. Then go to Control Panel, go to Programs and features.
  3. Select the name of update that failed and selects to uninstall it
  4. In the uninstall window, select the button corresponding to ‘Repair’ and then click ‘Next.’
  5. After this go back to the Windows update and select ‘Security Update for Microsoft dot NET Framework 4’ and install it again.

It should work now.
