This occurs when the storage space of the drive gets unallocated. To recover your memory space, follow these simple steps.

1. Open Run box by Windows + R button and type diskmgmt.msc to open Disk Management.

2. In the Disk Management window, find the drive and the unallocated space in the black header. Right click on the unallocated area and click on New simple volume.

3. Now, a wizard would open up. Enter the size to reallocate and click next.


4. Assign a drive letter and click next.

5. Finally select whether you want to format your drive or not. In some cases, you would be forced to format.

Results:
Now, you will notice a new partition of your drive is being shown on your Windows PC.

** You can merge these two partitions as well. Just go to disk management and delete all the partitions and then allocate whole drive at once.
