Hi,
I received an error while installing Symantec Endpoint Protection in one of the PCs in the office. It said something about Error 1327 with an Invalid Drive K which I didn’t map in the PC. Any ideas what caused this problem and how to resolve it?
I would be installing to several PCs in the office so I might as well know ahead what to do about this.
Thanks in advance.
This was the error message:

Click the start button then write in the search panel “regedit” and click OK. A window will come up then locate this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftW… Folders. In the right pane see that if any if any value contains a drive that is not correct or not exist in your pc then right click it to modify to the right drive. For example if one value is “Z:windows” then modifies it to ‘C:windows”. Repeat this step each entry for whose value is incorrect. Now write down this in that:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftW… Shell Folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoft…
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoft… Folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoft… Shell Folders
Now close it and run installation again.

There are two possibilities in here why it is looking for this certain drive.
1. You might be installing your anti virus software to drive K:
-
Just use the normal installation process which is saying recommended settings so that it will install the anti virus software in the C:/ drive.
2. You installer is from drive K: and it became disconnected during installation.
-
Make sure that the connection is stable and nothing will disturb or move the computer so that the drive will not disconnect or else you will have to do the installing again. But if this happens just plug drive K: back.
