Error when starting Adobe Dreamweaver

Hi,

I was trying to open Dreamweaver on my PC when I got this error message, see screenshot below. Was it correct to interpret that the error message pointed to a missing MMDocumentTypes.xml file on folder Configuration/Document Types?

I tried looking for the file but could not see it. Please advise on next steps to take in order to resolve this problem.

Need to make Dreamweaver work ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS3

No document types have been found in the Configuration/Document Types/ folder. The MMDocumentTypes.xml file may be missing or corrupted.

The application will exit now.

Hi Emmor,

That should be the location where you are saving the files you are working with when using Dreamweaver. Or Dreamweaver automatically saved some important .xml files in the folder that is indicated which you may have accidentally deleted.

The remedy here will be to completely uninstall Dreamweaver and install it afresh. Your files that you may created will not be affected, so don't worry that you may loose them. All you do when Dreamweaver has installed is to synchronize the folder in which they are stored so that they may be in the local host site and therefore you can make changes to them.

Hope this helps.

Hello Emmor,

First thing you will need to do is trace the folder path that has been indicated in the error message and ensure that it indeed has the folders that you are trying to open, for they may be missing and as result, the error message that you are getting.

You will also need to check that you have hosted the site locally, for Dreamweaver needs a localhost to work with to be able to open files that you are working with correctly. If you have not installed a localhost just yet, I will recommend that you download Xampp and then install it on your computer.

Hope this helps.

Carl
