Symantec PCAnywhere keeps on popping up an error that basically does not have any message on it! I figured out that this problem is caused by some problem in connecting to server. I am using Windows XP professional. How do I start to troubleshoot the server connection problem? Does anyone have any other reason why this error is showing up?

Well, Symantec software doesn't make such popup. If you are using Symantec Antivirus (or any antivirus), Update it and do a complete system scan. It should resolve this issue. Cheers. TechyV.

Hi Ernest

There is a software that was made by Symantec to diagnose and repair any problem in Symantec files.

The pcAnywhere Diagnostic and Convert tool, it has the ability to encrypt and store connections and diagnostic credential.

Checks the client status and repairs any issues. A very useful tool for troubleshooting.

In terms of compatibility, there should be no problem if you are using Microsoft Windows XP Professional either 32-bit or 64-bit. If you are having this kind of problem and the program doesn’t even give any clue on the error then probably it is already unstable and not working right.

First, try uninstalling Symantec pcAnywhere and then install it back. This might restore the functionality of the application on your computer. You can use the uninstall link available in the program from the Start menu or via the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Both methods are the same in removing the product from your computer.

In case Symantec pcAnywhere is really not working properly and you cannot seem to uninstall it from your machine, you can use Norton Removal Tool to remove the damaged Norton product. To download, visit Download and run Norton Removal Tool. Make sure to follow the instructions displayed on the page because downloading the tool depends on the Norton product you have on your computer.

Click on any of the links provided on the page to download Norton Removal Tool according to your Norton product. In your case, click on “I have pcAnywhere or WinFax”. See image.
