I am able to log into the Skype but when I tried to send a message or video call etc.

I get an error message:

Floating point can’t divide by zero.

I got this recently and haven’t received any calls or messages:

Skype error

Floating point division by zero

An error occurred in Skype

Hello Scotti,

Such errors occur in Skype for primarily 2 reasons:

  • Your System is not up to date with all the recent updates released.
  • Skype is facing some problems with the Graphic card in your system.

Hence, I would advice you to first update your system with the latest drivers and utilities in the market and try using Skype then. If the problem still persists then the problem is with the Graphic card compatibility of Skype with your system. Skype has however fixed such issues in their latest beta version release of Skype 5.5. Download the latest Skype version here and install it on the current version of Skype on your computer.

You need not uninstall the previous version.

This should fix your problem completely and you can start using Skype once again.

Cheers.
