Hello pals,

I have a problem when trying to create new accounts with Outlook 2013. It says that the connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Then it prompts me to enter a password and when I do so the same error message occurs again. And the process goes on and on. I am running Windows Vista. Please help me solve my problem as soon as possible.

The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Hey Mr. Burneliz,

The problem you are facing is simply because of a registry error and has been affecting users of :

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010
  • Microsoft Outlook 2013

You need to find a friend’s computer where everything is fine with Outlook and need to import working registry entries from his/her computer.

Follow these steps for your Vista:

  1. Click start and type ‘regedit’ in the search box and hit the enter key.
  2. Now , locate the following registry sub-key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER ->Software->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer->User Shell Folders

  1. Go to the file menu and click on ‘export’ and save the file as ‘myfile.reg’. Copy this file into your pen-drive or other storage device.
  2. Now, insert the pen-drive into your computer and open regedit on your own computer.
  3. Click on the import option under file menu.
  4. Select the registry you just copied from your pen-drive.
  5. Click open.

You are done. Try opening Outlook now.
