Make sure when installing Unreal Tournament 3 you are not installing on Microsoft Windows 7 or higher operating system because it may not work. This game was first released in 2005 and it was first named as Unreal Tournament 2007. Unreal Tournament 3 works only on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista.

So check again if you are on Windows Vista and not on Windows 7. Since the installation already encountered an error, might as well abort by hitting the Cancel button. Restart the installation but this time as administrator and hope it will work. Right-click on the installer file or if you are installing from a CD find the “setup.exe” file and select Properties.

Go to Compatibility tab, under Privilege Level check “Run this program as an administrator” and then click OK. Run the installation again and see if it works. Remember, if you are running the installation on an operating system higher than Microsoft Windows Vista, it may not work.
