I recently installed a new hard drive into my laptop computer because the old one crashes and I use recovery software and save it on the new hard drive. My problem is I can get to expand my partition. Does anyone know how can I make this work?

Expanding your partition requires you to reformat your hard disk once again. Because it is possible that you already have formatted a specific partition and you want to get the partition from this drive. It is not possible so delete both partition of your hard drive. Create a new partition and then format both partition, but make sure that you make any kind of backup of your files or else it will just be a waste of some good files unless nothing is important in your current drive.
You can also just buy a different hard disk or an external one and it will act as the backup drive that you need so that you can store a file in this drive.
Yes, you can make partitions on your disk drive. If you are installing the window then you need to do it by using the fdisk command or you can do it while installing the window. If you are installing window XP then you have options to make and manage disk space so that you can get your desired disk partitions. If you have already installed window then you can also make partitions on the disk it is also possible. To do this you need to go to desktop and then right click on my computer then you need to select the manage tool and now go to disk management. Here you can manage your disk and you will be able to make partitions over your disk. Specify the word letter as per your require and you will be able to see the disk on your computer. I hope this will help you a lot to make partitions.
 
Thank you for the help. I made some back up to store some of my important files. I was able to make a partition myself to my hard drive.
