Can anyone tell be what exactly the difference is there between 3G and 4G technology. How 4G is better than 3G in performance?

Well, basic difference between 3G and 4G is that 4G is faster than 3G on the same network. 3G stands for 3rd Generation and was developed for using technologies available in early 2000s. On the other hand, 4G was developed in 2011 to use data on far higher speeds. There is a huge difference between speeds when comparing 3G and 4G. 4G is 500 fold faster than 3G, comparable to cable networks. 4G uses Internet Protocol (IP) to boost web experience.

3G brought new aptitudes to users over the time; 4G is far more exciting as there are more possibilities such as high quality video streaming, uploading high quality bigger pictures and videos with ease from phone directly. 3G network lag time have been also not present in 4G and for the lovers of multiplayers gaming, 4G is a huge improvement.

Difference between 3g and 4g
4G is the fourth generation of mobile phone communication technology after 2G and 3G. The 2G mobile phone communication technology is best suitable for sending text messages and making voice calls. The 3G mobile phone communication technology supports sending of text messages and making calls plus it makes it possible now to access the internet directly from your mobile handset.
In 4G technology, surfing the web now using your Smartphones, tablets, and laptops should be much quicker compared to when accessing via 3G. The speed of the connection is very close to what you experience using home broadband. That’s why 4G is perfect for services that require more capacity such as mapping, video streaming, and social networking sites.
For normal users, the download speed of early 4G networks could be around 5 to 7 times faster than those of 3G networks. We can compare the speed as when downloading a music album that will take about 20 minutes on 3G network but will only consume around 3 minutes or more when done on 4G.
This is based on the average speed of existing 3G networks which is around 1 Mbit/s while 4G is at 6 Mbit/s average.
