I have a Dlink wireless access point and is new to the aspect of networking, how can I create a wireless hotspot and hide my network to avoid it being seen by the nearby clients.? How many clients can connect to this device and how do I add new device to my access point if its hidden?

You can create wireless hotspots by logging into the Dlink wireless access point. The set up is very much easy and go through the manual provided with the device to configure the equipment.

You can hide your wireless network by selecting the option enable hidden wireless. When you will create a wireless hotspot you need to provide a name of your wireless network. This name is called SSID technically. If you activate enable hidden wireless, then this SSID will not broadcast. But still wireless network will be there.

To connect with a hidden wireless network you need to know the SSID. When you will set up WI-FI in your system you can enter the SSID manually. If there is  no password is set for the wireless network then after entering the SSID you will be able to access the wireless network. If someone else come to know your SSID they will also be able to use your network using the SSID if they are within your WI-FI hotspot region.

So better is to set one password irrespective of your wireless network is hidden or broadcasted. Setting a strong authentication methods will keep away other from using it.
