Hello,

In my desktop, I have been fixing an additional Hard Disk Drive as a slave to the already existing Primary Master. While booting the system, I see the error message as "Please insert bootable media." What will be the exact reason for getting an error message?

Thank you.

Configuration of additional Hard Disk Drive

Hello,

If your drives are PATA, please check the jumper settings of your HDD. The Primary Master must have the jumper positioned at the correct pins when the Slave does not need any jumper or have the jumper at Slave position. If they are SATA they  do not need any jumper. However all the HDD, both SATA and PATA should be set up correctly in the BIOS. Check on the boot menu to make sure the Primary Master drives name is selected as primary HDD. Also select HDD as the first boot device to eliminate the chance of the machine trying to boot from any CD or USB drive. Also, check the cables and also the Primary Master HDD for defects.
