This is a common issue with Joomla 1.6 and later versions that users fail to log in to their own website after they have decided to host their site from a different location. What is to done to get access back?
Cannot Log Into Site After Restoration
When we move our sites’ content to some other location we often tend to forget that we have modified cookie setup in the site’s global configuration. If we modify the cookie setup’s path we won’t be able to access the site. We can work around this issue by the following steps:
a) We are to edit the configuration.php file in the root of the site. First step would be to find the file and look for the lines starting with public $cookie_domain and public $cookie_path.
b) We have to modify them so that they look as follows:
c) The file is to be saved and after clearing the cache we should have access back after a restart.
