I have HP Scanjet G4010 Photo Scanner and after setting scan resolution, am getting bloated parts of some letters, I have tried restarting the scanner but there is no change, What could be causing this problem and how can it corrected?

It does seem like you have a hardware problem rather than a software one. Go through the following steps to be absolutely sure:

Uninstall the scanner software(along with the drivers) and re-install again

On the inside cover of the scanner fix a white sheet of paper so that smudges at the edges do not occur

Clean the glass of the scanner with a dry cloth and make sure there are no scratches on the glass plate

Set the resolution to the highest, normally 96 dpi and try to take a scan
-
Save the scanned image as a high quality image file, preferably .png or .bmp. Do not save as a .jpeg file

Open the file, zoom in and zoom out to check if the problem is persisting

If it is, then take it to a service center near your place immediately. There may be a hardware fault with your device
