Hi,

 

Autorun is a feature built into the operating system that allows you to perform certain tasks automatically or run properly when you attach a removable media on your system, it could be a USB hard drive, audio CD or a DVD Video. Windows 7  allows you to specify the action to be performed

 

          Files with it extension are the common system's data files, which can be installed with applications or can be created by users. There are chances of these files to get corrupted, and then users are unable to open applications which require these it files. 

     

With the help of Autorun feature windows keep check on these files if these are working correctly and repair them automatically if required
