Auto update not successful due to some problem

I currently have a red X on Sophos Antivirus. A "mouse over" shows "sophos protection update has failed". Right clicking and selecting "Update Now" causes a window to show that states "Downloading Package 1 of 4…2 of 4…3 of 4…4 of 4" then it shows "Installing Package 1 of 1" then it just quits. A look at the log file shows:

Installation of RMSNT skipped
Installing Product SAVXP
The manifest file for product SAVXP was invalid
Installation of Sophos Client Firewall skipped
Installation of Sophos AutoUpdate skipped
AutoUpdate finished
If I repeat the "Update Now", the same thing happens again. Rebooting does not help. Any ideas?

Clear the temp directory (delete all the files %temp%) and do the update again. Sometimes when a file that is downloaded is corrupt it then plays havoc with the install.

If that fails you may have to do a clean install of Sophos. That would involve uninstalling Sophos (both the firewall and the Antivirus), downloading the installer from the MLS site, and then installing that. Once the install is complete update it using the "Update Now". I doubt that you will have to do a clean install. Clearing the temp directory generally solves most update issues.

Hi,

I can help you fix the Antivirus issue on your computer. I suggest you to follow these steps:

> It seems that your computer date and time is wrong. Set the date and time and try updating the Antivirus application on your computer.

> If the issue does not get fixed even after updating the date and time, restart your computer and clear all the temporary files from your computer. To delete temporary files, type “%temp%” in the Run command (Windows key + R key on keyboard) and hit enter. Now, select all files from this folder and delete. Some files might not get deleted. Leave that files and delete the rest.

> Now try updating the application on your computer.

> Still if the issue exists, restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking and try updating the application.

> It should be working fine now.

Just in case if the issue does not get fixed, reinstall the Antivirus program on your computer.

Thanks and regards,

Skarbos Jay.

This is program problem.

  1. Your program is old so your program has not update.
  2. If you update your virus program you need new version.
  3. Write new version of virus program and search Google.
  4. Download new version of virus program.
  5. Then install this program.
  6. And then update this program.

You can solve your problem.
