Which is the best Antivirus for free download for my windows XP professional 256 MB RAM , Pentium 4 2.4GHz? Please give me a link for it. I have been using a broadband connection since 3 months now. I am using for home use only for browsing and checking mails. My parents do some entertainment online serials too. please suggest me a nice Antivirus.

To be honest 256 MB of RAM is too low for any antivirus, increase it to 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM then the Microsoft security essentials would be the one to go with, as one of the answers said

There are a lot of virus program available in market these days. You can choose one but it will slow down your computer and may be reason to halt your computer. Although if you are using a antivirus that does not contain or uses to much sources of your computer then you can install any antivirus on your computer. But if you use a heavy antivirus program then it will not work on 256 MB. You can then increase it to 512 MB to solve your problem.
The other thing is you can use NOD 32 antivirus which is effective and it contain less space. Instead of using full virus scan you can install a version that is less prone to errors and then you can install a fix over that antivirus to solve your problem. So you need to install NOD 32 and then NOD FIX to solve your problem. I am sure that it will work fine in your case and will be effective.

You are using Windows XP professional 256 MB RAM , Pentium 4 2.4GHz. you do not have so much modern configuration in your computer. Now a days modern antivirus takes so much space in computer as well as it sometime slow down computer.
You have to scan your computer in your off time when you don't use your computer. Its the best idea to use antivirus in a slow computer.
