Hi !

To partition those 4TB HDD inserts a CD/DVD with a windows installer and follow some steps:

1) Reboot your PC.

2) Set the First Boot Device to DVDRW.

3) Insert DVD with Windows and follow the steps until you get the Menu with Hard Partitioning.

4) Delete all partitions that you have made before, till you will a partition of 4TB.

5) Select the 4TB unpartitioned space and press C ( to create partition).

6) Enter the valuables (how many GB the partition will have) of creating the first partition.

7) Select again the unpartitioned space and create another partion by entering the valuables (how many GB the partition will have).

8) If you want to install your OS again select the C partition and continue with installation.

8) If you don't want to install your OS again and  have done repartitioning all HDD press F3 to quit and then press Y for yes. Your PC will reboot now and you have to remove the DVD with Windows Installation.

9) Enter in My computer, click to the new partition and click Format and in the last you will have a full working new partition (continue the process to all new partitions that you have made).

When partitioning large storage devices like your 4 TB Western Digital external hard drive, there is this 2 TB limit for Windows storage. To allow you to use the entire space of your drive, try selecting a different cluster size or allocation size when creating the partition. It is the cluster size that dictates the maximum size of the partition.

The following list contains the supported cluster sizes for the NTFS file system and the corresponding maximum NTFS volume size:

  • 512 bytes – supports up to 2 TB partition (2,199,023,255,040)
  • 1024 bytes – supports up to 4 TB partition (4,398,046,510,080)
  • 2048 bytes – supports up to 8 TB partition (8,796,093,020,160)
  • 4096 bytes – supports up to 16 TB partition (17,592,186,040,320)
  • 8192 bytes – supports up to 32 TB partition (35,184,372,080,640)
  • 16384 bytes – supports up to 64 TB partition (70,368,744,161,280)
  • 32768 bytes – supports up to 128 TB partition (140,737,488,322,560)
  • 65536 bytes – supports up to 256 TB partition (281,474,976,654,120)

To fix your problem, try resizing your partition with EaseUS Partition Master and change the cluster size. If you cannot change the cluster size, just delete the partition and create a new one then select one of the cluster sizes listed above that can support the partition size you want.
