How to get rid of “could not find a CD” error?

Hello, I am using Ubuntu. Every time I try to open my software center it gives me an error message saying could not find a CD.

How can i solve this problem?

Error: scanning the CD

Could not find a suitable CD.

Hi,

Very simple problem I think.

I can see on your screenshot that your mouse pointer is near 'Add Volume'. Don't click there. You have to clikd on 'Add' at the left side.

Have you done what I said?

If you do it, your problem will be solved at once.

Hi there user:

I did a one (1) minute searching for the solution for this problem. Five (5) sites I rolled and tested, until I came to this classic way of cleaning various types of disk.  

Download/Purchase disk scanning software. Here you can get list of additional freeware disk utilities for checking different storage type. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/HDD-Scan.shtml

Take note that the often you use the optical disk, the longer it operates.
