Hey everyone,

I have installed updates for Turbo Tax Deluxe on a regular schedule for the past few months. This prevented many errors until this one here. I installed the last updates four days back, I think. Does somebody know what to do to fix this? I guess regular updates can't prevent everyerror. Thanks guys.

Hi Annie!

Have you tried reinstalling Turbo tax again? If not, try reinstalling it. Don't just reinstall and make sure you remove the application on control panel (add/remove program. You need to uninstall first before reinstalling it again.

  • Click start > control panel
  • Look for add/remove program
  • Choose the program you want to uninstall or remove
  • Click remove

If you are using CD to reinstall it, make sure that the cd is clean and then copy the entire cd into hard drive folder. Go to this link for manual updates after reinstalling turbo tx. I can solve your problem just reinstall the Turbo Tax, but the folder of the tax is not pretentious when reinstalling the application and then follow my step or instruction below:
  • From your desktop simply select the start menu in your taskbar to the left side of your screen.
  • Select the control panel just click it.
  • If you're using Windows 7/vista, simply choice Uninstall a Programs.
  • If you're using windows XP, just double-click Add or remove Programs.
  • You just search or look the Turbo Tax, and then uninstall or change a program just click it.
  • From the Turbo Tax screen you simply follow the steps.
  • Then after you follow the steps simply restart.
  • Install now the Turbo Tax, then leave the CD inside the CD-ROM during the installation.
  • After the installation, simply modernize the Turbo Tax Deluxe 2010.

The error can be resolved by reinstalling the new Turbo Tax software.

Follow the following steps to perform reinstallation:
A) Uninstall the Turbo Tax 2010 software from the system
1) Close Turbo Tax if you are running
2) Select 'Start', Select 'Control Panel'

Select-Control-panel-through-start-menu

3) Click 'Program Features', Add or Remove Programs', Click 'Uninstall a program'

Uninstall-program-through-Add-Remove-Programs

4) Select the Turbo Tax 2010, Click 'Remove' button
5) In the 'Repair/Uninstall Turbo Tax' screen, Click 'Uninstall Turbo Tax' button

B) Reinstall the Turbo Tax 2010 software
1) Close all browser windows and disable firewall
2) Insert the Turbo Tax 2010 CD into the system
3) Click 'Start', Click 'All Programs', Click 'Accessories', Click 'Run'
4) Click 'Browse', Double Click 'setup.exe' file
5) Click 'OK'
6) After the installation is completed, Restart the system and enable the firewall settings

It looks like there might be some problem with the installation of TurboTax or you have recently performed updates on the software. The best option here is to re-install the software. Before you do this, I suggest you first uninstall the current installation by going to Control Panel > Add/remove programs. Uninstall completely including the user preferences and files. Re-boot the machine and install the latest version of TurboTax.

I have seen this error message before and you are right, something might have gone corrupted. As suggested you should reinstall Turbo tax. If you still encounter the same problem you should do the manual uninstall and reinstall of the program.
