Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD

The issue may cause due to the file format that is not supported by your computer  to play in Window Media Player and in that case try the following steps:

1.   Check for Windows Media Player DVD trouble-shooter.

2.   You may have to download and install additional codes  to play this.

3.   Sometime the third party software/ hardware drivers may cause serious issues which may prevent your computer to boot properly. These third-party codes are independent and Microsoft does not guarantee to solve these problems. So, use third Party Software at your own risk.

4.   This is a quick tip. Take a little bit of water and clean the back of our DVD, and then clean it off gently.

5.   If still nothing happens then try playing your DVD in VLC Media Player which is very popular.

Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD

In my computer, before, I also cannot play a DVD in Windows Media Player even if I’m using a DVD writer. The only way I was able to play a DVD disc in Windows Media Player is after installing a third-party media player that supports DVD playback. After that, the “DVD” tab in the Windows Media Player “Options” appeared.

I was then able to configure the different settings for the DVD. In your case, if you cannot play a DVD disc in Windows Media Player, try installing another media player with DVD support like CyberLink DVD Suite or even VLC. Since CyberLink is not free, try downloading VLC media player instead and install it.

The latest version at the moment, VLC 3.0.3, supports Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. See if this works.
