What do you call an error of the gateway? What if I don't have this kind of router? And a workstation can be configured to browse the Internet and still not having an error of the gateway?

I am not sure I understand your problem. Are you trying to configure your network with a router on it? What error of gateway are you referring to? What is the brand of the router you are trying to configure?
Usually, you should just connect to the router gateway which is 192.0.0.1 and set up the connection with the SSID and name of the network. Once the router is properly setup, you can try to connect your computers on the network and see if you are able to browse the internet. You just need to be able to provide the correct WEP key or WPA key when you connect to the network and you should be good to go.
