What to do with Cyclic Redundancy Error

I have got a huge collection of music videos and movies, and recently I have decided to move some files in other drive to free up some space in my older drive. But I can’t copy some of the files.

There is an error message appears after copying some part of the file saying data redundancy error.

cyclr redundency error

Error Copying File or Folder

Cannot copy Freedom; Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

I don’t think my hard drive is faulty because I have checked the drive, but no error was found. Is these files are corrupted?

Do you know any process to get back the files?

Hey, Trick here

Cyclic redundancy error can mean two things. One, there may be a bad spot in your Hard Drive or the data itself is corrupted. First thing you need to do is determine what kind of CRC error you are dealing with here. To check go to Command Prompt and type CD <the location of the folder your file is in> and press Enter then type copy <the name of your file with extension>. If the result is successful, that means the file is not corrupted itself but something is wrong with you're drive, if it fails that means the file is corrupted.

If you determine that the file is not the issue, go ahead and try to use Microsoft's CHKDSK. Go back to the command prompt and type chkdsk /r, If this is in C, you will need to restart the computer and wait for the chkdsk to finish. Once done try copying the file again and hope it works.

If the file itself is the problem, then there is no way of completely recovering it and expect to work properly as it has already experienced data loss.
