Notepad Common Dialog Error (0x3002) After Updating to Win XP SP3

I have been using notepad from years together and have not seen any issue before. From past 2 days whenever I try to open the notepad, make any changes or create a new one and try to save it throws up an error message.

The only change that I remember making is updating my SP2 to SP3 on my Windows XP machine. The error message does not specify much and not sure how to uninstall and re-install the notepad program alone.

Good Day,

                                                                                                  Notepad Error

The above error occurred when the function received an invalid name and you have a corrupted file comdlg32.dll. In order to resolve this problem you must re-install SP3 and find comdlg32.dll on your installation disk or download the file to the Microsoft Official website.

Greetings,

The problem you have is very normal. The error isn't common but this does happen.

If you run it in the command "notepad c:\directory\file.err", it gives the same old result. The file.err only runs fine. And if you try to FILE and then “Save As”, the Common Dialogue error will pop up.

But if you change the command to "notepad c:directoryfile.err", the problem is solved.

I hope my answer helped you a lot.
