Mapping the Connection of USB Port to Com Port

I need help on mapping the connection of a USB port virtually to a com port.

The total devices will be attached to USB hub and via hyper terminal and will be used in talking on the win32.

Help please.

Hello Megan Bell,

You must ensure that you select the correct port when mapping.

Otherwise the data transfer will not be possible.

Just use the following procedure to see which port your USB adapter is connected to:

  1. On you computer you will need to go to the Start Menu, and then look for my computer and right click on it.
  2. Thereafter select properties from the list and then click on the tab labeled 'hardware'.
  3. Click on the device manager, and then click on the plus sign which is next to the COM ports.
  4. From there you should see which port the USB adapter is connected, as in something like COM1, COM2 and so forth.
  5. Done that, you need to go back to the map software program which you for the transfer of data and there you will have to ensure that the port it is looking at is the correct one, if not rectify that.
