I went to a store yesterday and saw this laptop.
Since they have their sale, the price was pretty much  lower than the original.
It has a 3GB RAM and is an i5 series..
Is this suitable for gaming?

You need to tell us the whole information, and by this I mean your graphics card. You’re CPU and RAM Memory sounds really good for gaming but the only thing that really matter in the gaming spec is the graphics card. It should be at 1GB Memory and with 128 bit bandwidth; this will mean that you can play any game out there at medium configuration. If it is lower it is not that good, as some games like NFS the Run requires a high specs configuration. But overall good configuration.
Those specifications are incomplete. You cannot just rely on those specifications if you are looking for a gaming laptop. An Intel Core i5 processor comes in different clock speeds. Aside from that, 3 GB RAM is not that big because it will go down to maybe 2 GB or lower once the operating system is running.
If you are looking for a gaming laptop, you should check for the video card that comes with the machine. Modern games nowadays are graphics intense. And in this case, you need a video card that has or supports a suitable amount of video RAM to support graphically demanding games today.
