I am having trouble with my Toshiba laptop in the essence that it keeps shutting down at random intervals. I am running windows 7 and until when the problem started, it had been functioning well. I understand that it can be a software problem but I highly doubt that since I have uninstalled all the apps that I had installed yet there is no effect. Could it be a hardware problem? How can I solve it?

The one I’ve handled before is a laptop that doesn’t have a battery. I only connect the charger to operate it and I know the problem is not with the battery because the battery has been removed and the unit still shuts down.
And it turns off at random. Sometimes the machine runs for hours before it turns off but there are times only for a couple of minutes. In your case, check the cooling fan if it is spinning or not. If the speed is kind of slow then the possible cause why your machine turns off is overheating.
Since laptops nowadays have GPUs, if your cooling fan is not working properly, both your processor and graphics adapter will overheat and will cause the unit to turn off. In the long run, if this continues to happen, it may have a damaging impact to the motherboard.
