Cache miss: When we look for a page in the cache memory but we do not find it there, then we say a cache miss occurs. Whenever there is a cache miss, the processor looks out for the page in the main memory.

Cache hit is a state in which the data being requested for processing by an application or component is found in the cache memory. It is a faster method of transporting data to the processor because the requested data is already in the cache. A cache hit happens when an application requests data.

The central processing unit or CPU will first look for the data in the nearest memory location which is normally the primary cache. If the data being requested is found in the cache, it is considered a cache hit. Cache miss, on the other hand, is a state in which the data being requested for processing by a component or application is not found in the cache memory.

Since the requested data is not found on the cache memory, it causes execution delays because the application has to obtain the data from other cache levels or the main memory. Cache miss happens within cache memory access modes and methods. The processor looks for the data in the primary cache for every new request.

It is considered a cache miss if the data being requested is not found in the cache memory. Every instance of cache miss slows down the entire process because after a cache miss occurs, the CPU or central processing unit will search for a higher level cache like L1, L2, L3, and Random Access Memory or RAM for the data.

Additionally, it creates and copies a new entry in cache before the processor can access it.
