Errors on trying to use System Restore on Windows 7

Every time I am trying to use the System Restore on my Windows 7, I get this error;

System Restore.

I need to make a restore point due to I am always prone to viruses and I have numerous attacks for the past months. Reformatting my system repeatedly may cause harm and damage to my system so I want to make an easier way to fix the error.

Just last week, my computer was attacked by a Trojan Virus but I managed to clean my system again. I have read different forums hoping that I can find someone who can help me with this. Anyway, below is the list of the troubleshooting I did to fix this:

  • I tried to make restore points again and again but none seems to work.
  • I used an Antivirus to scan my system but it’s free from any threat.
  • I tried running the System Restore in Safe Mode but it has no effect.
  • I have removed temporarily all the security which can block System Restore to appear correctly. 5. Run System File Checker None seem to work.

I hope someone will finally end my dilemma.

Error: System Restore

System Restore

System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settngs were not changed.

Details:

System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an ant-virus program is running on the computer. Temporarily disable your antvirus program and retry System Restore.

An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070005)

You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can by an advanced recovery method. For more information, see What is Recovery?

Thank you.

Typically system restore won't work because essential files are missing or your system is mis configured. If you have been having problems with viruses this is very likely the problem.

Have you tried downloading and installing a system repair tool? This will check your system for any errors and repair them as necessary. It will also clean and optimize your system. There are many free ones on the market that you can download.

The other option is to use the Startup Repair tool in Windows 7. This will replace any important files in your operating system that may be missing or damaged.

To use the Windows 7 Startup Repair tool you will need to boot your computer from your Windows 7 DVD.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Try to do the system restore without antivirus and anti spyware programs installed.

You also must check you have enough disk space. Norton is especially problematic for Windows System Restore.

Another trick you can try it's to start your system in safe mode and launch system restore. It should be working. To start in safe mode choose the right voice from menu “Safe Mode” after pressing F8 button at startup.
