Hi! all,

I was at work this morning to work on my accounting reconciliation of data, when I turned on my computer an error message pop up from windows defender.

Error 0x80092003: An error occurred while reading or writing to a file

Windows Could not start the Windows Defender services on Local Computer.

Error 0x80092003: An error occurred while reading or writing to a file.

The error said that it could not start windows defender, so I restarted the computer again, and passed by safe mode, because I remember yesterday this computer, was not shut down properly due to power interruption.

After the safe mode starts, I restarted again in normal mode, but the same error started again. This error eats a lot of my time in restarting the computer. I am now asking for help, if there are ways that I can get rid of this error.

Thanks experts.

Hello There,

It may happen due to several reasons. May be your windows defender has some corrupted file because of power failure. You better uninstall the program and get a fresh copy of it from the internet. But before installing it you better use a cleanup software to fully uninstall the software. Here is a link of Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility software. You can use the cleanup software.

But If you still face this type of problem then you have to go thorough these processes .Try serially

1. Click the Start Button.
2. Right click on My Computer and.
3. Select Manage.
4. Double click on Services and Applications and then.
5. Double click on Services.
6. Search for the service name Windows Defender.
7. Double click on it and you will get a window.
8. Select Startup type : Automatic.
9. Click OK Button.

This should resolve your problem.

Hi! Good day,

  • I am sharing with you about the kind of problem below. I hope it will work,
  • Go to Start >>> Accessories >>> Command Prompt (right click on Command Prompt) >>> (click on) Run (as administrator). Then type "sfc /csannow9note" the space. It’s important, and let it run. It fixes system and file errors and may repair whatever is causing these errors and defender not to work. Hopefully it will finish no errors it couldn’t repair. Then try starting it again and see if it works. Thank you. Hope you can do it.
