Cannot modify partitions in installer for Mint 11

I am stuck at 3rd step of the Linux mint 11 installation which is "Allocate Drive Space".

I get the error message "No root file system is defined".

The buttons of adding and changing partitions is disabled.

I am running Linux mint 10 Gnome When I run Synaptic manager It says not able to install. I could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open ( No such file or directory) Unable to lock the administration directory.

Linux Mint 9 Isadora crash any way to debug

I have installed Linux Mint 9 Isadora every now and then I get a windows crash the same behavior when we do Ctrl+Alt+backspace.

I have no idea how to fix this problem, this is very disturbing because all my unsaved data is lost after the crash.

And when I start the PC Mint boots automatically without giving any option of booting Windows7.

No audio in Linux Mint LXDE 10.
