Z68 or the Marvell chip supports SATA 6GB interface

Can anyone suggest the most preferred SSD that can support the super fast SATA 6 Gb/s interface? Is it Z68 or the Marvell chip?

Hi Rochelle,

Mostly all the SSDs support the 6GB/s interface. But you must have a supported motherboard to take the advantage of this feature. There are a lot of motherboards that have SATA III or SATA 6GB/s feature enabled. First confirm if your board has SATA 6GB/s enabled.

Have a closer look at how to determine if you have the sata 6GB/s on your motherboard or not

The White one are the SATA III or SATA 6GB/s slots.

Now lets talk about the best SSDs available. There are a lot of brands that are producing SSDs now. One thing to look while buying an SSD is its build quality, its read/write speed and price performance Ratio. Currently the best SSD out there is the following

OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-90G 2.5" 90GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Remember this model and specifically ask for this one when you are going to buy.

The SSD you get for your computer will depend highly on the purpose you want to use the computer for. I will recommend that you get an Intel x25-m 120 gb ftw. The advantage with it is that its boot speed is tremendous and also the shutdown speed. You will notice that its response for opening applications is superfast too. And also if you intend to use the computer for activities like gaming and streaming videos online which require that the computer be fast enough then that is the right SSD for you. The speed at which you move at copy files between disks is also good when you are using Intel x25-m.
