Hello all,

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and my Yahoo Messenger just suddenly stopped responding. I am no longer able to see what is being written and while typing in the regsvr32, it gives me this error message:

Error 0x80004005.

Can anyone give me suggestions on how I can go about fixing this so I can get back on Y Messenger?

Thanks for your help.

Yahoo messenger, phew.

Please make sure you download the latest and updated version cause, there are lots of bugs going on under yahoo please update your messenger, I suggest you uninstall yahoo messenger and download the latest one and install from here:

Now try it:

If it didn't work means just exit your Y Mess and then go to your windows installation drive (default C drive) then select windows and then system32 and find the file cmd.exe right click and select run as administrator and then type this :-

C:WindowsSystem32regsvr32 jscript.dll
C:WindowsSystem32regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Do it ONE BY ONE ok.

Now open yahoo messenger, if still didn't work fine means do a system restart then try.

Hope that solves your case.

Hello Rypatterson,

From your problem. The error 0×80004005 commonly results from running applications without the right privileges. The administrator is the one who has all the privileges in windows operating system. To solve the problem, you need to reopen the program as administrator.

To do this, right click on the Yahoo messenger program and choose “run as administrator”. In some cases, the cause of this may be due to blockage by the security software like antivirus.

Another cause may be corrupted registry. To check whether the registry is corrupted, download regeasy from this link to check on this.

Regards.
