Hi all

I have recently installed Windows movie maker to convert some of my files to wmv format.

So I tried to convert some of my video clips using this application but I was met with an error and my files could not be imported.

The screenshot of the error is attached below:

The file E:Panasonicwmv0054.wmb is not indexed and cannot imported.

The message states:

Windows Movie Maker

The file E:Panasonicwmv0054.wmb is not indexed and cannot imported.

Can anyone please help me how to import my files? I simply can't understand what to do. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Kindest regards

Hi John

The video file you converted is not indexed so Windows Movie Maker can’t import it into the ‘Collections’.

To index it use the utility WMVIndexer which will add indexes to the .wmv file to enable the indexing.

After indexing the file include it in Windows Movie Maker to edit.  Click here for WMVIndexer download page

And then click on the marked link

Hi John,

First of all try, you should know your Windows movie maker version through (Movie Maker > Help > About) if you hadn't the latest version. please update to the latest compatible version with your operation system (windows version)

After that download a video fixer ,to index your file, such AsfBin which is a good software for fixing and indexing (wmv & asf) video files.

AsfBin download link:
