Winamp 5.35 Error opening file for writing

I acquired a freshly downloaded Winamp 5.35 just now. When I was installing the software, I got a message notification saying "Error opening file for writing". Then I clicked Ignore, but a series of error messages akin to the first problem popped up. Is my newly download Winamp corrupted?

I don’t know what seem to be the problem. Can someone tell me on how to resolve this error.

Thanks in advance.

Winamp 5.35 Error opening file for writing

Hi stepheen,

This error usually occurs due to an open instance of the program being installed or due to a lack of the current user permissions to make the installation. To solve this problem follow the steps below.

1) Your old version of winamp probably starts the winamp agent at the start of Windows so you need to close that either by right clicking its icon right next to the clock or by using ALT+CTRL+DELETE and then choosing the processes tab then closing any process related to winamp.

2) Now after you closed any running winamp instance you need to run the installation as an administrator by right clicking on the installation package and choosing Run as administrator.

Now the installation process should continue with no problems.
