Wifi Cannot Work on My Laptop

Hi experts!

I have bought a new Acer 722 netbook. I installed OS successfully. Found problem with WiFi. It didn't work. I pressed fn + WiFi symbol and still didn't work. I also had set up the driver. I need your solution.

Wifi Cannot Work on My Laptop

Hi Eharper,

It is possible that your WiFi function may be disabled by the OS. Try to enable the WiFi function on your laptop and then try to turn it on. For windows, to check if WiFi is disabled or not, follow these steps.

• Start Run and type " services.msc".
• In the Services Windows, search for the service that enables or disabled WiFi (most probably service with WiFi Service on its name).
• Then Start the service, if it is turned off, and then restart your system.

Now check if it is working, by pressing the corresponding keys ("Fn + WiFi").

If above doesn't solve your problem try installing the latest drivers for your WiFi and then check it. Otherwise, it may be a hardware problem on your laptop, get it to your nearest service center and check for any problems.

Hey Eharper!

These types of problem normally occur when the driver of the WiFi is not installed. First of all make sure that the driver you have installed is compatible to your WiFi. I will recommend you to use Driver Genius. It will update all your latest drivers, which will be compatible to your Laptop.

Once download, install the drivers and reboot your system.

Your WiFi will start working.

If the light of your WiFi is not turned on then there must be some issue of hardware. Claim your laptop if it is in warranty.

Dear Eharper,

Requirements for a WiFi connection:

1. A wireless network interface controller which connects to a radio-based network. It is similar to a network interface card. It is one of the most important requirements of a wireless internet connection with a laptop or a desktop. There is an antenna with which it connects to the microwaves. A wireless network interface controller works on the layer 1 and layer 2 of the OSI model.

2. You can also use a wireless network adapter that is similar to a wireless network interface controller with the only difference that it is externally connected to your laptop or desktop.

Many laptops come with a built in wireless networking to check if your system has the same go to Control Panel and click Network and Internet if the any of the following is visible than your system has built in wireless networking device.

WiFi, WLAN.
