Failure to establish a connection to the wireless internet

For unknown reasons, I can’t connect to the wireless internet.  As a resort, I am temporarily using a cable to connect.  My computer detects the network and I see that the signal strength is good.  I tried to connect but connection always fails.  I already tried re-starting my netbook.  I try to connect, failed, tried again but still failed.

Other computers that are connected on the network have no problem with their connections.  Are there settings that I must configure, to solve this problem?

I am using a Dell Netbook Inspiron 1018 with Windows 7, starter’s edition.

Please help.

Thanks.

These problems are sometimes caused in areas not covered by WiFi , but if you are in the area covered by WiFi, then try to check your WiFi device on your netbook, by using device manager. As this might be a driver problem or device problem.

There are several ways to open your device manager.

Click  start ; then control panel ; pointer to system and security links ; find device manager and click it.

Click start ; then click run and type this,  mmc devmgmt.msc;then find device manager.

Now you can update your drivers for your WiFi and after updating your drivers and they still don't work, then try to check your WiFi device because it  might be causing the problem .

Is your net book working with your wireless network before?  Your computer keep a list of wireless networks it has connected before try deleting those and reconnect.

Since other wireless computers are working with your wireless router then this is an issue on your net book.  But we need further isolation of the problem. Do try bringing your net book on a hot spot or any Wi-Fi zone areas.  Please check if it can connect there and if it gives you the same problem then try to uninstall and re-install the wireless adapter on your net book. Consider as well updating the drivers of the wireless adapter.
