If Windows Remote Assistance feature is not working, it means that remote host name is irresolvable. Remote Assistance doesn’t work when the computers can’t share same private subnet connections. Even when the Microsoft Firewall doesn’t allow other systems to connect to the Microsoft, this problem arises.

To enable this feature,
• Go to the control panel.
• Select option “System and Security.”
• Select “System” and “Remote Settings” options on the same Window. (An option enables Remote Assistance on the system).
• After selecting Enable Remote Assistance on the system option, click on the OK button.
• Open the windows “help & support” to ask for help and enter the Remote Assistance link.
• Enter the trusted Email Id in that link to provide invitation regarding help.
• The Windows Remote Assistance will provide the password. Note the password. We can see an incoming connection. Remote Assistance Window will control the process.
• The process finishes and to confirm the process. Enter the noted password.

If you want to use Windows Remote Assistance but it is not working, here’s a workaround. On the computer you want to assist, log on as administrator or log in with a user account that has administrative privileges. Next, go to “Control Panel,” “Administrative Tools” then “Component Services.” Double-click “Computers” then “My Computer.” Double-click “DCOM Config” to expand.

Scroll down and locate “RaServer,” right-click it and select “Properties.” In the properties window, go to “Security” tab then click “Edit” under “Access Permissions” section. Here, add your domain admin credentials. When you are finished, click “OK” all throughout then restart the computer and log in back. You should now be able to remote assist after this.
