I have come across the acronym SaaS in cloud computing. I do not fully understand this terminology and the concept behind it. I would be grateful if you could elaborate further on what SaaS is and how to use this service. Have you any idea what SaaS is capable of accomplishing? How effective is it?

What Is Software As A Service (Saas)?

qa-featured

SaaS stands for Software as a Service. It is a delivery model and software licensing where an application is licensed on a subscription basis and hosted centrally. Occasionally, it is referred to as “on-demand software”. SaaS has been integrated into the strategy or policy of all leading enterprise software companies.

SaaS is a method of delivering or distributing applications over the internet in the form of a service. Instead of installing and keeping software, you just access it through the internet. This removes the hassle of complex software and hardware management. Every now and then, SaaS applications are called on-demand software, hosted software, or web-based software.

Whatever name it is called, SaaS programs execute on SaaS provider’s servers. It is the job of the provider to supervise the access to the application which usually includes availability, security, and performance.
