What is the Purpose of the Rectangle Image Map?

I have seen that there are different types of Image map that can be embedded in HTML and I am curious on what is the purpose of the rectangle image map? Is it the same with the other and only the shape varies?

What is the Purpose of the Rectangle Image Map?

Hi,

Image Map is a server side control, including Rectangle Image Map. This let you to show an image and take action when a single part of the figure is clicked. Using a Rectangle Image Map, for example, you are working on a website for a reputed airplane manufacturing company. And, your customer asks to show a pleasant image of an airplane model in one page and when the client clicks the portion of the airplane, the information about the parts is displayed on the next page.

The four (4) types of Client Image Map can perform this need and only the shape varies.
