What is MIME ? what is its functionality
It is a Multi Internet Mail Extension, it  is a specification for the format of non-text e-mail attachments that allows the attachment to be sent over the Internet. MIME allows your email client or Web browser to send and receive things like spreadsheets and audio, video and graphics files via Internet mail.

MIME or Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions is an internet standard that extends the format of an email to support text in character sets other than ASCII, message bodies with multiple parts, non-text attachments, and header information on a non-ASCII character set. MIME’s functionality has grown beyond describing the content of an email to explain content type in general. It is also used as storage for rich content emails in some commercial products such as IBM Lotus Quickr and Lotus.
