It is very easy and simple to change back your Drive letter to ‘G’.

The lone thing you need to bear in mind is that the Drive letter of your computer’s main partition, which usually is the Drive C in Windows installation, cannot be modified unlike the other partitions.

To change the Drive letter in Windows environment, do the following steps:

  • Open ‘Windows XP Disk Management’ from the Computer Management Utility.
  • Right-click on the drive you want the drive letter to change as located at the rightmost part of your computer screen and select ‘Change Drive Letter and Paths’.
  • Once another window on ‘Change Drive Letter and Paths’ comes out, select and click on the ‘Change’ button.
  • From the dialog box for the ‘Change Drive Letter and Paths’, Select which drive letter you want to allot to this partition. (It’s G, in your case).
  • Click ‘OK’
  • Another window saying “Changing the drive letter of a volume might cause programs to no longer run. Are you sure you want to change this drive letter?” will appear.
  • If you are sure that you want to make this change, click ‘YES’.

After this, your drive letter will change back to G. Note and be aware that some software installed to this drive may stop functioning after the change in the drive letter.
