Vista Windows Movie Maker keeps on crashing

I am editing some videos using the Windows Movie Maker on Vista. There haven’t been any errors until just recently.

I would now get an error whenever I import a video clip.

The error even appears when I use videos that have worked previously.

The application has an option to disable video filters in case of issues with compatibility. I even disabled other players and video editors, such as Nero, QuickTime and DivX, just to have Windows Movie Maker use all the necessary files needed. Unfortunately, doing that did not change a thing. Now, the application cannot be used since it has completely malfunctioned.

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Hello,

This issue occur because of incompatible video filter is install to your computer. To solve the problem, start movie maker in safe mode, after that configure the movie maker so that the incompatible video filter is not loaded. Just follow these steps

1.       Go to taskbar and click on start button, now click on all programs

2.       Click on accessories and then click on command prompt

3.       At command prompt, type CD/program files/movie maker, and then press enter

4.       Type moviemk.exe / safemode, then press enter

5.       When it get started, click tools, and then click options

6.         Click the compatibility tab

7.       In filter section, click to clear the check boxes of any third party video filter that are not required.

I hope this information will be useful

Thanks
