Virtual PC not working in Windows 2007

I'm about to install Virtual Pc machine in Windows 2007. When I installed it the warning message came out;

Virtual PC 2007 SP1 Setup

Virtual PC 2007 SP1 Setup has stopped working

Windows is checking for a solution to the problem…

Every time I repeat the installation the setup will stopped working! I do the restart option but still the installation remains failed.

Is Virtual Pc working in Windows 7 operating system? On our school we use Windows XP when using the Virtual Pc machine. Is it possible with Windows 7? Why did the set up stops working? Do you have any idea how the installation couldn't be able to continue?

What would be my next move in order the installation will successfully completed.

Help anyone thanks

Hi there,

First of all, I presume you mean Windows 7 by saying windows 2007. Because, there is no version of windows named Windows 2007.

The version of virtual pc you are trying to install is Microsoft Virtual Machine 2007 SP1. It is only supported by Windows Vista. You cannot use it with Windows 7 as it is not supported in Windows 7. For Windows 7 you have to use Windows Virtual PC, which is a newer version released by Microsoft for Windows 7 only. It can be downloaded free of charge from Microsoft website if you use genuine version of Windows 7.

If you are trying to install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Service Pack 1 on Windows 7 then that’s why you hit the error. You see, Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Service Pack 1 is for Windows XP and Windows Vista only. Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 are not supported.

Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Service Pack 1 supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher, Windows Vista (Ultimate, Enterprise, or Business edition) with or without Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008. It requires at least 400 MHz Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium II, Intel Pentium III, Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core Duo, Intel Core2 Duo, or equivalent AMD Athlon/Duron or faster processor.

If you have another computer that you think is compatible, download Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Service Pack 1. If you need a virtual machine for your computer, you can try Oracle VirtualBox.
