I had the same situation but not with the same software that you installed, I don’t know what I did but I encounter also the same problem with you that all of my computer program icons turn into notepad. I search the Internet but my problem not solved. The solution that I did to resolve this one is to create another account. I created another account to my computer and I transferred all files that in my old account that have a problem to my new account. I solved the problem. No notepad icons.  Hope this helps you about your problem.

You may have made duplicates of the notepad icons by mistake, and I will suggest that you do the following to remove them from the desktop:

  • On the desktop, select or highlight all the duplicate notepad icons, and then press SHIT+DELETE on the keyboard to delete them completely from your desktop.
  • You can as well try using the desktop clean up utility that is available in the windows operating system.

But in case the icons are appearing on the desktop for some other reason like being duplicated by a virus that has invaded your computer, then you will need to run a full virus scan on the system to remove the virus or malware that is causing that problem to occur.

Thank you Clair Charles. I deleted the notes on my desktop and also scanned my computer to be safe. The anti-virus found some suspicious detections. Many thanks! Thank you TechyV!
