Is it advisable to turn on automatic updates on pc? Are automatic updates applications or programs licensed?Â
Turning on Automatic Updates for Computers
Automatic update is by default installed in your OS (operating system). But then one might need to switch it on and it would then automatically download all the available updates necessary for the PC.
Updates sent out from Microsoft (That is if you are working on Windows)Â is to make the computer function more safely and provide its best performance.
There are several categories of updates. Critical updates or security updates provides protection patches and codes for all vulnerabilities possible against malware and other exploits of security.
Other updates provide correction of errors that are not meant for enhancing any existing functionalities. It is highly recommended to switch on the automatic updates to ensure one has the latest software and security patched for better computer experience and browsing.

Turning on Automatic Updates for Computers
I think it’s not necessary to turn on the automatic updates on every software you install on your computer. But if it is Windows that you are referring to then turning on the automatic update is important to experience the latest updates on the functions of the operating system.
It improves and optimizes the processes that run in the background to make the system more stable and avoid frequent and untimely crashes. And most especially, it improves the performance.
But if it is the automatic updates available in the software you install, I guess it would also help at some point particularly on the programs you frequently used.
There are times that new versions of the programs require separate license that is not covered by your present subscription. It would be best to set the software’s automatic update option to the one that will notify you of new version available and not to download it immediately.
Because the default for most programs is to download the update immediately if it is already available without notifying the user.
