Things to consider before buying a web cam

1. First you should identify your requirements and actually what you are going to do with your webcam. (Ex: Skype chatting.) 

2. Then you should consider the resolution of your web cam because higher resolutions webcams gives you clear picture and lower resolutions give you low quality. 640*480 is reasonable for webcams. 

3. In addition type of lens is more important because some webcams use plastic lenses and some are use glass lenses. Glass less provides more quality pictures than plastic lenses.

4. Other than that Microphone is a most important part of your web-cam. Today most of web cams come with microphone. 
My personal suggestion is Logitech web cams are good for computers. Logitech provides handy range of webcams.
