Hello there  Allison, 

I have read about your problem and I am here to help you out. Have you updated your system to 10.8.x? if not well its time for you do so. 10.8.x version of OSx also known as Mountain Lion enables iMessage for your MacBook, which means you can receive not only MMS but even videos and high definition photos. To download Mountain Lion all you need to do is check Apple's website. Hope this helps you.
