The below steps will restore the autoexec.nt, config.nt and command.com files from the Windows XP CD. In order to do this you must have the Microsoft Windows XP CD.

Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD into the computer.
Click Start, Run, type cmd and press enter to open the MS-DOS window.
At the MS-DOS prompt, type the below lines. If completed successfully, you should see a message indicating the file was copied and not an error.

expand D:i386autoexec.nt_ c:windowssystem32autoexec.nt
expand D:i386config.nt_ c:windowssystem32config.nt
expand D:i386command.co_ c:windowssystem32command.com

Once the above files have been successfully copied, type "exit" to close the MS-DOS window.

Dear Carl,

The error you mentioned usually appears when any of the following files is either damaged or missing:

1- autoexec.nt

2- config.nt

3- command.com

Now you can easily remove the error by doing the following steps mentioned below:

1- Go to Start -> Run -> here type -> C: Windows repair

2- Now hit the OK button

3- Here you will find some files. Locate the file name autoexec.nt and copy the file

4- Go to Start -> Run -> here type -> C: Windows System32 and paste the file

This will do it for you

Thanks
